ITINERARY
KRKA RIVER
The main attraction of the national park is the large Krka river with its 7 travertine barriers, after which the park was named. The travertine barriers have shaped seven magnificent waterfalls, whose beauty attracts more and more people every year. The national park is inhabited by numerous endemic plant and animal species, and there are also numerous caves and pits in the park.
SKRADIN
On their way to Krka, visitors get to see Skradin, a wonderful little town which is surrounded by the sea, from where they enter the national park itself by boat. Krka National Park, a natural karst phenomenon, is especially recommended for visiting throughout July and August, because besides seeing the enchanting natural phenomena, visitors can enjoy bathing in a refreshing river on a beautiful beach surrounded by numerous waterfalls.
SKRADINSKI BUK
Skradinski buk is the most famous waterfall of the Krka River and one of the biggest natural beauties in Croatia. It consists of traventine cascades, islands and lakes, and the river flows down the 17 stairs which creates breathtaking scenery. At Skradinski buk there is also the oldest hydroelectric power plant in Europe, and the most interesting thing about this hydroelectric power plant is that it was the first hydroelectric power plant ever to illuminate a town.
VISOVAC
Visovac is a small island located in the lake part of the park. Because of its natural beauty and uniqueness it is very interesting for visitors, and it is also a home to two monasteries that are pearls of Croatian natural and cultural heritage.
ROŠKI SLAP
Roški slap is the sixth waterfall in Krka National Park, and along with Skradinski buk it forms the most beautiful part of the park. It is especially interesting because of its rich vegetation, mills, as well as the series of small cascades known as "Ogrlice" (“Necklaces“). Above the Roški slap there is also the famous Oziđane pećine cave. There are 517 wooden stairs that lead to the cave.
